VOCALOID ROLEPLAY HEADQUARTERS

Greetings, and welcome to the Vocaloid Roleplay group!

Disclaimer:
All characters in this project are not owned by anyone in this RP, excluding the fanmades. Characters and the entire concept of the Vocaloid series belong to Yamaha, Crypton, and other creators. We're simply portraying them for fun.

:new: What's New?
This section contains the latest updates.

:new:News from ~Korogaiku
(last updated 11/22/09):

:new::pointr: Okay, it's come to this. From now on, all members are allowed a solid limit of three characters. If you currently have more than that, you do not need to give them up, but you will no longer be allowed to roleplay more than four characters for whatever reason. We've been trying to implement this policy for roughly a week now -- maybe more, maybe less -- and it looks like no one's gotten the jist of things so far.

So now it's laid out. If you have sent in an application for a fourth character, your application will be disregarded or denied. We hate to do this, but it's getting a out of control. Thanks for applying, regardless! It's nice to know you care enough about the group to want to add to its numbers!

News from ~Random-EXplosion
(last updated 11/09/09):

:pointr: Due to popular demand, VRPDA's Awards are back and better then ever!

EDIT: Edited rules due to problems. Rule 2 has been updated as well as Rule 3. Please re-read all rules again thouroughly as soon as possible.

Quick rundown on how the awards will take place and rules regarding the awards. There will be THREE stages; NOMINATIONS, VOTING, and last but not least ANNOUNCEMENTS. NOMINATIONS will take place starting today (November 9th) and run through till Novemeber 29th. VOTING will start December 1st up until December 31st. ANNOUNCEMENTS of the winners will be on the following day of January 1st.

STRICT NOMINATION RULES THAT MUST BE FOLLOWED AS PRINTED:

1. You CANNOT NOMINATE YOURSELF OR ANY OF THE CHARACTERS YOU PLAY. It just makes you look like an asshole. If done, you ballot will be null and void.

2. (EDIT) You can nominate a character up to three times.

3. (EDIT) ONE CHARACTER NOMINATED PER AWARD. Example: You CANNOT nominate Nagone-Mako AND Haku-Yowane beside the award for say Most Charming Character. Put one name down and move on. However, for the pairing awards this rule does not apply.

4. If I hear of any whining/harassment from anyone about the awards or nominations, swift admininstration action will be taken. Depending on the situation, if your character(s)were nominated, they will be removed from the nominees list and you will be banned from partaking and voting in the awards. If your character(s) won a vote and I find out you had been harassing someone, the award will be stripped away from you and given to the character who came in second place.

5. Copy and paste the ENTIRE form below with your nominations through note with the subject "AWARD NOMINATIONS" to ~Haku-Yowane. Partial filled out forms, forms missing information, or spoiled ballots will immediately be thrown away and counted as null and void.

6. Please do not hesitate to ask questions, concerns or ask for clarifications. We will be more than happy to answer them!

(last updated 11/12/09)

Okay, I needed to update. Somewhat. Kinda. Moving on.

- All I can do is highlight what has been said, and repeat the specifics. So here's a small roundup.

:bulletgreen: Generally, the RP awards are back. So please, don't hesitate to vote for whoever you deem is worthy of certain awards!

:bulletgreen: I would like to note that we've nearly all the official Vocaloids! We're just missing a Miriam. If you or anyone you know might be interested, please direct them here. Having a complete set would be just awesome, y'know?

:bulletgreen: Should you be trying for a PV specific character (eg. Dark Woods Circus, Fear Garden, Meltdown, Toeto, to name a few that we have) please read the specifications page ([link]) and understand it the best you can. Any questions, we'll try to answer them the best we can.

Small useless highlight is useless. But yeah.

ORIGINAL CHARACTER APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED

:bulletgreen:How to Join:
1. Pick an available character from the Vocaloid Wiki or your own character. With the fandom the way it is, we really cannot keep updating our character list at whim. Your own research and comparison with the existing (and updated) Members List will take you much farther.
2. Send this HQ account (~vocaloidrp-da) a note clearly marking it as an application. In other words, your application MUST have the word "application" in the title, as well as the name of the character you're applying for. You must also fill out the application completely, which does mean that you have to copy-paste it or number your entries accordingly. Anything else will be left to rot.
a) Which character would you like to roleplay as here?:
b) Is there a reason for wanting to roleplay this character? What is it?:
c) How will you portray this character, if you are chosen to roleplay them? The VOCALOID fandom is inconsistant and very vague in its portrayals; please tell us how you intend to roleplay your chosen character:
d) Show me your roleplaying abilities. Type a strong monologue of you roleplaying as the character in question. It must be at least two paragraphs of spoken dialogue for a flat monologue, one paragraph of spoken dialogue for a paragraphed monologue.
e) How many times per week would you be able to check your messages?:
f) Do you agree with the rules? Do you have any suggestions or alternatives to them?:
g) Do you have any particular ideas concerning the character you wish to roleplay as, such as future plotlines, special circumstances you wish to clarify, unusual circumstances, etc.:

3. Do not ever create an account before receiving an acceptance note. From this point on, whatever reason you have for making an account must be reviewed by at least three administrators. If it's judged acceptable or innocent enough, then your application will be considered. In this same vein, you are expected and required to create your own avatar, due to the group's size and levels of activity. A pixel-wide, black border must surround your icon. No animated icons are allowed, period.
4. After you are accepted and have made a new account, you must submit an introduction journal. Those without one will most likely be refused entry into chat or they may be disregarded from the roleplay in general. You must let us know, either by note or by comment, that the account exists, or you will not be added to the Members List.

:bulletyellow:General Rules
5. These characters are robots. Whether or not they are made anatomically correct and "functional," in that sense, is up for the roleplayer to decide. However, while you may pair them up as you wish, there cannot be any marriage, offspring, or unconsented pairings. Both roleplayers must agree on pairing up their characters. If one roleplayer says that the characters are together when they are not and acts upon it, they will be penalized.
--Roleplays involving romance must be realistic. You cannot pair up your characters immediately; the connection and development must be roleplayed out somehow, and it must take at least two weeks for a connection like that to even start.
6. Use proper text in both chatrooms as well as you are able. Grammar, punctuation, and the English language are not to be tossed aside just because you're not seriously roleplaying.
7. If someone asks you to stop something, cease whatever is causing problems. You may talk it out, but ultimately, cease and desist and apologize. We are a community, and we need to get along and work off one another. If problems persist with this, we will personally remove speaking privledges from the offender in the In Character chat. All members are asked to report conflicts to the staff should it be necessary.
--In other words, no harrassment will be tolerated to any members of this roleplay group.
8. Powerplaying, godmoding, metagaming, chatspeak, and any other manner of inappropriate role-play depiction will not be tolerated on any level. It's very frustrating and hard to understand, and these members and the administration will not hesitate to make sure you learn that. General definitions are available below.
9. Stay in character while roleplaying as often as humanly possible, which should be all the time. If you applied for Haku, roleplay Haku. Portray her as such. If there is too much deviation from what is depicted in your application, you will be called on it and action will be taken.
10. Respect and understanding is mandatory. We don't care if you were the first member or the latest one; we're all here for the same reason and that alone is reason enough to try to get along. Any abuse along those lines will be met with admistrative action.
11. You must remain active. We must be alerted somehow of any leave of absense, and if you are not, accounts are marked idle after two weeks and dead after two months (eight weeks). You may not reclaim them, you may not return to the group, and you have forfeit your right to the character.
12. From this point on, if you are giving up an account, you must give up the password with it. Please change the password to something less-encroaching for logging before reporting your departure. If you do not give up the password without good reason, you risk losing your other existing accounts, should there be any, with us.
13. You are allowed one character, currently, due to the size of the group and general restrictions. Two or three may be allowed in special circumstances, but they must be taken up with the admin and your most recent account must be a month old before anything else will be permitted.
14. If you are rejected or banned, do not waste time. Try to apply again if you are invited to, kindly move on if you are not accepted or are banned. Continued harrassment will be logged, reported, and acted upon by deviantART staff and you will be dealt with accordingly. This punishment also applies for Rules #7 and #10.

:bulletpink:Original Characters
15. Mary Sues/Gary Stus are ridiculously poor for any roleplay, and they will not be tolerated here. We will not help you with your characterization.
16. Obsessive fangirling/fanboying will get you permanently banned from the group if it is deemed uncontrollable at any point. Due to past circumstances, we must be very harsh with this. Please understand.
17. Original characters cannot be related to canon characters without special permission from the administration. This is always a lengthy decision, and you are asked to use comprehensive judgment to determine whether or not anything may be questionable ahead of time.
18. In relation to Rule #5, you are not allowed to immediately pair your character up with another in your application or at any time without setting it out in the public eye first, be it with permission from the roleplayer, character design, necessary historical explanation, or otherwise. It's more than foolish and will get you rejected, regardless of your roleplaying talent.
19. You created these characters, and by applying, you are promising to protray them correctly. If your portrayal veers from your depiction in your application for too long or too far, you will be called out upon and action will be taken, much like in Rule #9.
20. Crossovers are not allowed to any extreme. Interacting with deviants that comment on your profile, commenting on deviations you have favorited for your roleplay accounts, and replying to those who decide to comment on your page/work/journals from other roleplays is entirely up to your own discretion.
21. When applying as a fanmade, please state how this character a fanmade. There are too many 'fanmades' in the VOCALOID arsenal that are just OCs that somehow pass off as fanmades by slapping a "Miku" or a "Kaito" or whatever other vocaloid label on them.
Also, if we find that your reason isn't good enough, your application won't be accepted, no matter how well-written and/or well-managed it is.

:bulletpurple:REMAINING CHARACTERS
Here are the descriptions for the fan made Vocaloids and here are the descriptions for the UTAU. It's best that you read them if you want to RP one of them.
:new: For your applying pleasure, ~Korogaiku finds it important to note that both Wikia have changed their setup, how they update, and what characters they include. You will most likely have to search several pages to find the characters you want to apply for. Also, they both update FAR more often than we do, so you will have to do a little more work to keep yourself updated. It's far easier to rely on their lists than on ours.

Admin-san, is there any possibility that someday the OC applications will be open again? xD

--
I fail at life~ <3
:iconvocaloidrp-da:
Someday, yep. There was just a STRING of OC applications, and it seemed like people were more concerned about getting their own characters involved than showing the "accepted" characters any sort of appreciation. So we had to deflect it for a while.

Once we get our numbers more balanced -- shouldn't take too much longer, at this rate -- the journal will change and be updated, and pewf, OCs will be applicable againnn.
